The boys are back in town! After a break, Brother Jim and David return for another season of Bible, Bibs and a Prayer with plenty of laughs, Gen X nostalgia, terrible jokes, and—most importantly—the Word of God.

In this season premiere, Brother Jim and David dive into one of the most important questions we can ask: Why do we pray? Is prayer something we turn to only when life falls apart, or is it something we should be doing before the battle ever begins?

Looking at Matthew 4:1–11 and Jesus’ time in the wilderness, the conversation explores how Jesus prepared spiritually before facing temptation. If Jesus intentionally spent time with the Father before the battle, how much more do we need prayer in our own lives?

From financial struggles and family challenges to temptation and the everyday spiritual battles we all face, this episode challenges us to stop waiting for the emergency before we start praying. Prayer isn’t a last resort—it is preparation. It is communication with God, a way to strengthen our relationship with Him and focus our hearts on the One who is greater than anything we face.

And, of course, Brother Jim and David wouldn’t be back without a healthy dose of humor, stories, bad jokes, and a little bit of ’80s nostalgia along the way.

What does biblical fasting really mean? Is it about going without food, getting God’s attention, or convincing Him to give us what we want?

In this Sunday morning message, Brother Jim begins a powerful teaching on spiritual fasting and prayer, challenging us to look beyond the physical act of fasting and examine what is happening within our hearts.

Biblical fasting isn’t about manipulating God, earning His love, or proving how spiritual we are. It is about surrender—giving God our desires, our plans, our fears, our distractions, and ultimately our whole hearts.

Through Scripture and practical examples, this message challenges us to consider what controls us, what occupies our time and attention, and whether we have allowed the things of this world to take the place that belongs to God. Are we developing a genuine relationship with Christ, or have we settled for a convenient, “fast-food” faith?

As we begin this series on fasting, we’re reminded that God isn’t simply interested in changing our circumstances. Sometimes He wants to first reveal what needs to change within us.

The question isn’t simply, “Are you getting fed?” The question is:

“What are you feeding your soul?”

This message is an invitation to slow down, seek God, examine our hearts, and discover what may be standing between us and a deeper relationship with Him.
